The Counseling Experience
Maegan is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a passion for providing quality service to individuals in need of support. She works from a person-centered approach, which means that regardless of where you are in this process, she will meet you there with acceptance. Maegan believes that having an unbiased person to walk beside you as you explore your own thoughts and feelings can lead you to a place of better self-acceptance. She is trained in EMDR and uses this evidence-based approach to help process distressing memories that cause challenges in daily thoughts.
Background in Mental Health
Maegan received her Master’s degree in mental health counseling at the University of Arkansas. During her undergraduate studies she worked in a residential psychiatric treatment home in Louisiana for children with significant emotional and behavioral needs. In graduate school Maegan worked as an advocate for sexual assault survivors on campus. She provided both one on one and group support to help individuals work through trauma. She was also certified as a wellness coach and helped clients set and reach goals related to overall mental and physical well-being.
Since graduating, Maegan has worked with adolescents, adults, and families experiencing varying needs. These needs include, but are not limited to, child-parent relationship concerns, trauma, anxiety, and depression. Maegan’s clinical experience is in individual, family, and group therapy.
