Maryam was born in South Carolina, but her family moved to Northwest Arkansas when she was age 1; and she’s still here with her husband and two babies! She loves to travel and has been lucky enough to see many lovely places, but this has always felt like home for her. She went to Hendrix College, and earned her BA in Psychology and after graduation started working in a therapeutic day treatment program for elementary kids. While working she attended the University of Arkansas and earned her MA in Counseling.
Maryam has a passion for helping people work through mental, emotional, and physical pain. She has training and experience working with children as young as 15 months to adult age who are dealing with issues including: trauma, grief, anxiety, chronic pain, depression, domestic violence, infertility, postpartum issues, and anger management. She uses Child-Parent Psychotherapy along with play therapy techniques to help children and families who are victims of abuse or neglect. She loves working with kids and has experience working as a counselor at a local elementary and middle school.
Maryam works hard to see what works with her clients to help them meet their goals. She has experience using cognitive behavioral techniques, person centered therapy, play therapy, and mindfulness/meditation.
