About Me & Mental Health Experience

Lauren is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). She received her Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Arkansas. During her undergraduate studies, Lauren worked in a psychiatric residential setting with children, and then transitioned into working as rehabilitation specialist for adults who were transitioning out of acute & residential psychiatric care. During her graduate studies, Lauren worked as a mental health paraprofessional in an elementary setting, as well as a disability resource counselor in a college setting. Following graduation, she focused on providing therapy/counseling to the infant and early childhood population & parents/guardians, and has served as an early childhood mental health consultant across various childcare centers in Northwest Arkansas.

Early Childhood & Trauma

Lauren believes that early intervention and therapeutic support during early childhood helps foster resilience, decreases behavioral concerns, and strengthens the parent-child relationship. Lauren is recognized as an Infant Mental Health Therapist in Arkansas, and has completed additional training for the diagnostic classification of mental health & developmental disorders of infancy and early childhood. Lauren is registered in Arkansas to provide the following evidenced based treatments for early childhood trauma and behavior concerns: Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).

TF-CBT is a structured, short-term, effective treatment for children and adolescents (ages 3-18) who have experienced trauma. As the gold-standard of child trauma treatments, it has been repeatedly shown to successfully resolve emotional and behaviorally difficulties associated with trauma.

CPP is a trauma-focused therapy for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers that strengthens relationships and helps families heal from traumatic life events. It has been shown to be effective in reducing emotional and behavioral difficulties associated with trauma, enhancing safe caregiving practices, and strengthening the parent-child relationship.

Additionally, Lauren has  special interest in treating and serving families and women experiencing perinatal mental health issues. Lauren is listed as a provider with Postpartum Support International.
